One deputy killed, another wounded in Smyth County shooting

A North Carolina man accused of killing a deputy and wounding another in Smyth County on Friday has been charged with murder. Timothy Wayne Goodman, 65, was charged with aggravated murder in connection with the death of Smyth County Deputy Hunter Reedy. He is also charged with four counts of attempted aggravated murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Marion Police Chief John Clair said Reedy and another officer were assistingofficers with the Marion Police and responded to the 1700 block at around 5:00 p.m. for a moving traffic violation.
